ALL THE KITTIES OF MEOW MEADOWS!!
SATURDAY, June 30, 2007:  I went to visit all the kitties of Meow Meadows this morning.  Tortellina was sitting on top of the bar when I walked in and she remembered me right away - looked up with expectant eyes, wanting her breakfast - LOL.  Whitney was behind the closet door in the bedroom and Bootsie was on the living room floor.  He looked at me with "flight" in his eyes, but I talked sweet to him and kinda walked way around him to check the corners and floor in the living room.  He didn't bolt, just watched me warily, his eyes big ole saucers!   Sahdow was in her customary place under the bed.  I gave everyone a nice breakfast and gave Shadow her medicine.  The litter is all scooped and the floor all cleaned.  No accidents yet that I can find.  I will need to bring my little broom to clean out the tub and stuff.  The little dustbuster doesn't get it as clean as I like.  I refilled the dry food, but left it up on the counter, out of Shadow's reach - LOL!!  Poor kitty - she reminds me a lot of my dog Patches - he's a pudge too!!  I'm thinking of taking him to the Oakhurst Doggie Weight Watchers - LOL!!  I checked everything - and normal security was A-OK.  I did meet Charlie, the little Yorkie, on the way to the garbage.  I told the kitties goodbye and locked up.

SUNDAY, July 1, 2007:  Happy July!  The kitties had once again assumed all their respective positions, Tortellina on the barstool, Whitney behind the door in the other bedroom, Bootsie on the living room floor, and Shadow under the bed.  They didn't want to confuse me - lol!  Everyone had their breakfast and Shadow got her medicine.  Bootsie likes to try and steal everyone else's wet food when I'm not looking - I don't think he cares much for the special food he is eating - LOL.  I gotta keep a close eye on him!!  The litter boxes are all clean and the areas around them.  I found the extra litter in the hall, so that is good for when I need it.  Whitney must have been in the laundry closet because the door was open. Since I saw her in the bedroom and knew she wasn't locked up in there I went ahead and shut the doors (although she will probably open them again :-)  It was a particularly cloudy and thundery day, but no rain.  The kitties are doing fine - I haven't approached Bootsie yet, I want him to get a false sense of security first before I try to nab him.  I will let you know how that goes.  I would like to give him fluids at least once while you are gone.  Security check - normal.  All was well.
TUESDAY, July 3, 2007:  Everyone was out to greet me again (well, except Shadow), and Bootsie was lying next to the door by the hall - I almost didn't see him there!  I went over to him and he watched me (glared at me), but didn't move.  I was very careful not to scare him.  Tomorrow I am going to attempt the fluids, if I can catch him.  If not, he seems to be doing very well.  He is eating all his food and trying to snatch the others.  I did take some new pictures today, so hopefully some of them came out okay.  I tried to get closer pics for the faces, they make a nice pic for my web site.  You got a ton of mail today - weighed about 3 pounds - LOL!  The litter boxes are all cleaned and I brought my little broom to do the tub and floor - it worked out great.  Everyone had a nice breakfast and I refilled the water and dry food bowls.  Security check - all was well!
MONDAY, July 2, 2007:  I do believe all the kitties were happy to see me - they all came out as I was preparing their breakfast.  Even Whitney came out into the living room area.  Of course, I have given up all aspirations for getting Shadow out from under the bed, although I did see her on the coverlet of the bed once.  That's how I know what she looks like - LOL.  Everyone had a nice breakfast and I had to keep an eagle eye on Bootsie again, who wanted to snatch the "good stuff".  Litter was all cleaned and refreshed and area cleaned.  I used a little Clorox cleanup in the tub and now everything smells good in there.  Bootise seems to not fear me much now, I even walked right up to him and put his food down in front of him.  I may try capturing him tomorrow and see how the fluids go.  Of course, he may still go nutso on me, but we'll see.  I'll get everything ready first so all I have to do is give them to him, and pin him down - LOL!  I checked around - not an accident yet, everyone is being good kitties!!  Normal security check - everything A-OK.
WEDNESDAY, July 4, 2007:  The kitties were all in their designated spots.  I think they must have these spots mentally cordoned off!  Everybody is doing well and having no problems.  I keep checking all the corners but have not found any accidents yet.  I cleaned out the tub today, and moved all the boxes while I washed it down, then I refreshed the litter - all is smelling nice in there.  I swept up the floor and checked all the areas.  Everyone is eating well, and not missing any meals.  I tried to catch Bootsie today when he wasn't looking but he slunk under the couch.  I didn't want to traumatize him to much because he was starting to trust me so I will try again tomorrow.  Everything else is going well - no problems.  We hope you have a wonderful 4th of July Holiday!!
THURSDAY, July 5, 2007:  Bootsie let me pet him today.  I thought he was going to jump out of his skin but he calmed down and went right back to eating - I think we are making good progress so I will try the fluids tomorrow.  None of the cats seem to have been bothered by the fireworks last night.  There were no accidents and SHADOW CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE BED!!   I was shocked when I walked in the room to give her the food with the meds.  She was sitting by the end of the bed and she didn't move.  I brought the food right up to her and she didn't shy away.  Yep - things are looking up at Meow Meadows!!  The shy kitties are coming around!!  Everyone is eating very well, the dry food is disappearing too, so all is well.  I checked all the corner again and no accidents.  There was a coughed up fur-ball on the kitchen counter, but it actually landed on the paper towel I had under the spoon, so it cleaned up well. Everything else is going fine - hope you have a great 4th!
FRIDAY, July 6, 2007:  All the kitties are doing great - no problems.  Shadow is coming out and staying out the whole time I am there.  She even waits on the floor for me to bring her her food with the meds in it.  I think I may even get a chance to pet her soon!!!  Bootsie is getting braver and I think he is starting to look forward to my visits, he is right there waiting for me.  I still haven't attempted to catch him because he seems so peaceful not that he is not scared all the time.  I hate to scare him again.  Tortellina always waits for me on the counter and Whitney hangs out in the spare bedroom.  There was one accident in the corner of the living room, but I cleaned it all up.  Nothing else seems amiss.  The cats are doing really well..  I know they are missing their "mama" though!!  :-)
SATURDAY, July 7, 2007:  Happy 777 day - a lucky day indeed!  I decided to see if I could coerce Bootsie into some fluids. He seems to be doing fine, but I really wanted to see if he would take them.  I waited until he was eating and then I came up behind him.  He has been getting used to me so he didn't try to run.  I watched him a couple of minutes and then I reached down and picked him up.  He didn't see surprised, didn't tense up, and didn't cry, so I petted him a little under the chin and took him in the bathroom.  I put him on the counter and he just stood there.  I got the needle ready, made sure it was working okay and inserted it.  He didn't even flinch.  In fact, I don't think he even knew I did it.  He just sat there looking in the mirror and looking around the bathroom.  I kept petting him and rubbing his chest.  It was amazing - he just sat there.  He had a wide-eyed look, dilated pupils, but no distress. He started to move a little as we got to the end of the treatment, and when he started squirming I let him down.  He got a full dose.  Then he went out and ate the rest of his meal, and was cleaning his face when I left.  All the other kitties are doing great and eating well.  Shadow is eating all her food and taking her meds with it.  No problem there - and she is staying out (or usually on the bed).  Tortellina still rules the roost.  Whitney is so frail that I like to make sure she gets a good portion of the food. Everything else is A-ok.  There were a couple more furballs on the kitchen floor but nothing bad.  Hope you are all having a great trip!
SUNDAY, July 8, 2007:  All the kitties were happy to see me today - even Shadow (who is now staying out all the time and not hiding at all).  In fact, she waits for me to bring her bowl of food with her meds in it.  I even got to pet her!!  Bootsie is still letting me pet him even though I gave him fluids yesterday, so I guess he's not mad at me. I was just so happy to be able to give them to him.  Everyone ate all their yummy breakfasts, and I checked around for furballs and throw-ups.  Nothing to be found.  No accidents in the corners either.  I will try to change out all the litter boxes tomorrow and put down new litter so it will be nice when you get home.  Everyone did great, and we are having no problems.  Hope you're having a great trip - kitties and apartment - all doing fine.
