KATHY'S JOURNEY OF A 1000 MILES
(starts with just one step)

January 27, 2012:
Purchased the Food Lover's Diet Plan - it wasn't cheap - $139, but it's time to do something!  I keep watching these Dr. G Medical Examiner shows and there is almost always a person on the autopsy table that had diabetes and Dr G, just starts in with how diabetes can complicate things with the heart, lungs, and other organs, and how obesity just packs these organs with fat all around them, hindering their main purpose in life, and other bad, bad things that I just don't want to think about, but I think it's time.  Being obese and diabetic and having the problems I am having with underarm pain (which they haven't been able to determine what the problem is yet), my sleep apnea, and also the heart pains I was having last year - it is time.  I'll suck up the $19.99 a month (for 5 payments), afterall I am worth it.  :-)  I'm actually kinda excited to try it, maybe I can get other things in my life on track this year - like organization (especially for the tax season!), and work on my face (I am starting to look old, and mainly just to feel good again.  The foot pain I am experiencing is almost unbearable, not to mention the other aches and pains which I am sure I can attribute to being overweight.  And to make my mom proud of me because I did lose it and maybe not mention it quite so often.  Dad would be proud too, and Jr, would have to eat his words.  Of course there's always Lloyd, who I don't really care what he thinks about me, I would just like to stuff my weight loss down his throat too - that would be fun!   But not to get off track - I really want to do it for ME!  A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step - this is my one step!
January 30, 2012:
Am starting off to NOT such a great beginning, but I guess that's what beginnings are for!  To make a new one!  The only thing good about it is that I appear to be 1-1/2 pounds lighter than yesterday.  I had a trial run for my first day yesterday, but didn't count it because I had too much going on with the yard work and stuff to try and eat every 2 hours which is what the first day of the Food Lovers Diet entails.  But today, I got my ducks in a row and am going to embark on this journey!  My long term goal is to get healthier by December 25, 2012.  My short term goal is to complete each one of the days on the 21 Day Makeover part of this diet,  And my vanity goal is to lose weight, improve on my

body and skin, and take better care of my teeth.  There are things to consider on this journey - I need to be pretty good looking by June to meet up with my Fab 40's friends (would like to be 200 pounds by then), and to go on my trip with Cathie in September (would like to be 180 pounds by then), and then my 40th School Year reunion at the end of September (in all ways I would like to be 150, but probably ain't gonna happen).  All in all a lot to shoot for.  I will try to add one link a day that deals with some of the problems I have such as high blood pressure or diabetes.  My vow is to read and study at least one a day, and to listen to the audio tapes from this Food Lover's Diet (might as well get my money's worth).  I will check back often during the day and update, but try to keep it simple. I have noted that my blood pressure is high and so is my blood glucose (altho I did eat a slice of bread iwth peanut butter before I checked it)

Mood:  I appear to be in good spirits - happy to finally be starting something to give me hope!
